After rejecting the opportunity to return to the X-Wing cockpit for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it seems that Denis Lawson is set to reprise his role as Wedge Antilles for December’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Original Trilogy star Lawson (the uncle of Ewan McGregor) previously stated that he turned down Episode VII as “it would have just bored me”, but it seems he’s had a change of heart as Rebel Force Radio is reporting that a representative for the actor offered a solid “Yes” when asked whether he’ll be appearing in the final chapter of the Skywalker Saga.
Wedge Antilles made his debut in 1977’s A New Hope, being the only other X-Wing pilot to survive the Battle of Yavin alongside Luke Skywalker. He returned for The Empire Strikes Back, and was once again a key figure in the attack on the second Death Star in Return of the Jedi.
