Having already helped to push the franchise past the $3 billion mark combined earlier this month, Universal and Illumination Entertainment are celebrating another box office milestone for Despicable Me 3 this weekend, with the animated sequel pushing its worldwide haul beyond the $800 million mark.
The third instalment in the main Despicable Me series has grossed $230.4 million domestically, with a further $588.8 million from international markets, for a combined haul of $819.2 million and counting. The film is still performing well internationally, adding a total of $36.1 million this weekend, and still has four markets to come.
For comparison, the first Despicable Me earned $543 million back in 2010, with its sequel Despicable Me 2 grossing $970 million in 2013 and the 2015 spinoff Minions setting a series high of $1.15 billion.
