Active Fungus Studios has announced the release of Inspector Schmidt – The Ebbing on PC via Steam. This new detective RPG brings a gripping story and plenty of cunningly devised puzzles that fans of Schmidt’s previous mystery, A Bavarian Tale, and mystery fans will enjoy.
In this new mystery, the young Inspector Schmidt is taking a quiet holiday in the fictional town of Havstedt by the North Sea, but the peace and relaxation ends when he is drawn into a mysterious murder case. Players will take the role of Schmidt and set out to solve the mystery and find the murderer. Players can search for clues, question locals and sneak around using a revamped stealth system to help solve a variety of challenging puzzles.
Just like A Bavarian Tale, The Ebbing places a strong focus on dialogue from quirky characters, branching storylines and multiple endings. The voice acting is performed by German talent with authentic northern German dialects but subtitles and an English voiceover are also available.
Inspector Schmidt – The Ebbing features:
- An open world set in an 1870 North German town to explore.
- A conversation system for interrogating townsfolk and gathering information.
- A Detective Mode for uncovering hidden evidence.
- Sneak into restricted areas and survive dangers using a revamped stealth system.
- Challenging puzzles to solve.
- Classic en-and-paper-style dice rolls to test skills.
- Level up Schmidt and choose which skills to improve.
- Collect resources and craft gear.
- Make decisions to solve the mystery and discover different endings.
