Diablo Cody and Blake Lively team for Netflix adaptation of Dark Horse Comics’ Lady Killer

May 6, 2021 by Matt Rodgers

Coming off the back of The Rhythm Section, Blake Lively seemingly has all the right credentials when it comes to playing a killer for hire, which might go some way to explaining why Netflix have tapped her to star in and produce Lady Killer, an adaptation of the Dark Horse Comics title, which will be written by Oscar-winning Juno scribe Diablo Cody.

According to Deadline, Lively will take the role of Josie Schuller, a seemingly normal woman who has all the attributes of the perfect housewife and mother of her time, yet secretly works as hired killer for a mafia organization. But her double life doesn’t please her employer: he doubts her liability, and soon decides to have her eliminated.

Diablo Cody will adapt Lady Killers from the Dark Horse Comics title that was first published in 2015. Written by Joëlle Jones and Jamie S. Rich, illustrated by Joëlle Jones, and colored by Laura Allred, it was nominated for a prestigious Eisner Award in 2016.
