Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Dimension has lost the rights to the Halloween franchise, with Miramax said to be shopping the property around in search of a new distributor.
The report goes on to state that Marcus Dunstan’s “recalibration” of the slasher series, Halloween Returns, is likely to be scrapped, with Miramax starting over on a new instalment with Malek Akkad.
Dimension has been controlling the Halloween franchise since 1995, during which time it has released Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers, Halloween H20: 20 Years Later and Halloween Resurrection, along with Rob Zombie’s remake and its sequel.
