With Paramount Pictures setting an April 8th 2022 release date for Sonic the Hedgehog 2, director Jeff Fowler has confirmed that filming has started on the follow-up to last year’s live-action/CG-animated video game adaptation.

While plot details are currently being kept under wraps, we do know that Ben Schwartz’s Sonic and Jim Carrey’s Dr Robotnik will clash once again in the sequel. While James Marsden has previously stated that he is already signed on to play Tom Wachowski for multiple sequels – hinting that his future with the franchise remains likely. Tika Sumpter, who played Maddie Wachowski in the first film, is also scheduled to return.
However, it seems like Sonic may not the only hero appearing in the sequel as not only was Tails featured in the closing moments of the original film but rumours are circulating that Aquaman star Jason Momoa has been approached to voice Knuckles.
