Walt Disney Pictures has today announced that production is underway on the sequel to Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland, with James Bobin (The Muppets) taking over the director’s chair for Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass. According to the official press release, the “film revisits Lewis Carroll’s beloved stories with an all-new new tale that travels back to Underland—and back in Time.”
Featuring in the all star cast of Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass are Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway as the White Queen, Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Rhys Ifans as Zanik Hightopp (the Mad Hatter’s dad), Matt Lucas as Tweedledum and Tweedledee, Ed Speleers as James Harcourt and Sacha Baron Cohen as Time. Meanwhile, lending their voice to the film are Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat, Toby Jones as Wilkins, Alan Rickman as the Blue Caterpillar, Michael Sheen as the White Rabbit, Paul Whitehouse as the March Hare, Timothy Spall as Bayard and Barbara Windsor as Dormouse.
Alice in Wonderland: Through the Looking Glass is set for release on May 27th 2016.
