After failing to get its TV reboot off the ground back in 2017, Disney is taking another crack at a new incarnation of the 1993 cult classic Hocus Pocus, with Deadline reporting that writer and producer Jen D’Angelo (Happy Together, Workaholics) is developing a new movie for the Disney+ streaming service.
According to Deadline’s report, it’s unclear at this point whether it will be a “true” sequel to the original film, although it is said that the producers are hoping to have Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy reprise their roles as the villainous trio of witches.

The 1993 fantasy comedy was directed by Kenny Ortega and saw Midler, Parker and Najimy playing three witches who find themselves resurrected in present day Salem, Massachusetts on Halloween. Although it wasn’t a hit at the box office, the film went on to earn cult status as a Halloween favourite.
