After over a year of operating, Disney has decided to set the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel on its final voyage.
Insanely innovative and popular when it originally opened, the Star Wars-themed hotel just couldn’t maintain the attendance needed for an experience like this. The signs of a struggling business were there, like in March when Disney announced that it would start scheduling two bookings per week in October, down from its typical three to four weekly bookings.
For reference, two-night packages start at about $4,800 for two people and go up to $5,299 for two adults and one child and $5,999 for three adults and one child. These prices did include lodging, meals, and admission to Hollywood Studios.
“Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of our most creative projects ever and has been praised by our guests and recognized for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment,” the company said. “This premium, boutique experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and as we prepare for its final voyage, we will take what we’ve learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our guests and fans.”
Disney offered this for fans awaiting their last experience with the theme park: “We will be contacting Guests booked for voyages departing on or after Sept. 30 to discuss their options and modify their plans. To prioritize these Guests, we are pausing new bookings until May 26.”
“We are so proud of all of the Cast Members and Imagineers who brought Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser to life and look forward to delivering an excellent experience for Guests during the remaining voyages over the coming months,” Disney adds. “Thank you to our Guests and fans for making this experience so special.”
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Hotel opened in March 2022.
