Disney’s Haunted Mansion adds Danny DeVito as a “smug professor”

October 19, 2021 by Liam Waddington

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Danny DeVito (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia) is the latest star to join the cast of Disney’s upcoming Haunted Mansion remake which began production last week in New Orleans and Atlanta.

According to the outlet, DeVito will play a smug professor in a film which will follow a mother and her son who come across a mansion that is more than it seems while being orbited by various characters key to undressing the spooky mystery.

DeVito is set to star alongside LaKeith Stanfield who will play a widower, Tiffany Haddish who will portray a psychic hired to commune with the dead, and Owen Wilson (Marvel’s Loki) and Rosario Dawson whose roles are currently undisclosed.

The Haunted Mansion reboot will be directed by Justin Simien, who has previously directed Dear White People and Bad Hair. This project will serve as Simien’s first big-budget blockbuster. Katie Dippold (The Heat, 2016’s Ghostbusters) will pen the script.
