Having collaborated on Netflix’s Gerald’s Game and last year’s Doctor Sleep, writer-director Mike Flanagan and producer Trevor Macy are turning their attention to another Stephen King adaptation, with the duo teaming with Warner Bros. once again for an adaptation of King’s novel Revival.
Flanagan is set to write the script for Revival, and also has an option to direct. The project was previously in development under The Fault in Our Stars and The New Mutants helmer Josh Boone, who is currently working on a TV version of another Stephen King book, The Stand.
Published in 2014, Revival explores “the relationship between a heroin-addicted musician and a dubious faith healer with a hidden agenda. The minister is obsessed with trying to find a way to communicate with his departed wife and child but ends up connecting to a Lovecraftian horror.”
Flanagan and Macy are currently working on The Haunting of Bly Manor, the follow-up season to the acclaimed Netflix horror series The Haunting of Hill House. The duo have also signed on this week to executive produce a series adaptation of The Midnight Club for Netflix.
