Having officially announced the sequel at the San Diego Comic-Con this summer, Collider is reporting that Marvel has now enlisted up and coming screenwriter Jade Bartlett to work on the script for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Bartlett broke onto the scene with her script Miller’s Girl, which made the 2016 Black List (a list of Hollywood’s best unproduced scripts) before being picked by by Good Universe and Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Point Grey. She is also attached to pen an adaptation of the novel Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know for Universal Pictures and has horror film The Turning incoming in January [watch the trailer here].
It had originally been rumoured that the Doctor Strange sequel would reunite director Scott Derrickson with screenwriter C. Robert Cargill, but it appears that report may have been wide of the mark as there has been no official word from Marvel about Cargill’s possible involvement.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will see Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme joined by Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch. It is slated for release on May 7th 2021 and is one of four MCU movies incoming that year along with Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Thor: Love and Thunder and the as-yet-untitled Spider-Man 3.
