Following reports earlier in the week that Warner Bros. has gone back to the drawing board on Justice League Dark following the departure of director Doug Liman, it has now been rumoured that the studio has enlisted a new screenwriter for the supernatural DC ensemble.
According to The Hashtag Show, Prometheus and Doctor Strange screenwriter Jon Spaihts has signed on to pen a new version of the script for the film, which has been in development since 2012 when it was first announced as a project for Guillermo del Toro.
Justice League Dark is said to be viewed as a priority for Warner Bros. and was included as part of the studio’s DC slate at Comic-Con. It has recently been claimed that Daniel Espinosa (Life) and Gerard Johnstone (Housebound) were on the shortlist to succeed Liman, and that studio execs have apparently been left unenthused by recent director pitches.
