“Come on, Kate. It’s time to put your mouth where our balls are.”
Vince Vaughn is returning to the competitive world of Dodgeball as the actor is set to star and produce a sequel to the 2004 comedy.
Deadline reports Vaughn had boarded an update to Dodgeball at 20th Century Studios. The project is reportedly in early development and will see Jordan VanDina (The Binge) pen the script.
Dodgeball followed a group of unlikely misfits, led by Vince Vaughn’s Pete LaFleur, who enter a Las Vegas dodgeball tournament in the hopes of winning $50,000 to save their cherished local gym from being taken over by corporate health fitness chain Globo Gym. The hilarious and raunchy comedy proved a success, bringing in an impressive $168 million on a $19 million budget.
Jordan VanDina is best known for his work on the Vaughn-led The Binge for Hulu and the streamer’s Animaniacs reboot. Recently, the writer began developing his spec script for Dennis Rodman’s 48 Hours in Vegas at Lionsgate.
Vince Vaughn has recently wrapped production on the Apple TV+ drama series Bad Monkey and will star alongside Al Pacino, Michelle Monaghan, and Simon Rex in Easy’s Waltz from Nic Pizzolatto. He was also recently cast in Legendary’s Animal Friend with Ryan Reynolds, Jason Momoa, and Aubrey Plaza.
2004’s Dodgeball featured an all-star cast that included Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Justin Long, Stephen Root, Alan Tudyk, Missi Pyle, Jason Bateman, and William Shatner. As yet, none of those are confirmed as joining Vaughn in the cast of the sequel.
