Domhnall Gleeson is in talks to star in Netflix’s A Futile and Stupid Gesture, a feature film exploring the origins of National Lampoon, the groundbreaking U.S. satirical magazine.
Gleeson will portray Henry Beard, one of the three co-founders of the National Lampoon alongside Robert Hoffman and Doug Kenney. Will Forte (The Last Man on Earth) is set to play Kenney, while David Wain (Wet Hot American Summer) is attached to direct.
The Irish actor is coming off a stellar 2015, where he appeared in Ex Machina, The Revenant, Brooklyn and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. He’s recently finished work on the Doug Liman / Tom Cruise sci-fi Mena and will soon be reprising the role of General Hux for Star Wars: Episode VIII.
