It appears that one of the best things to emerge from the fallout of Solo: A Star Wars Story is the fact that Donald Glover and Phoebe Waller-Bridge have formed a working relationship that has led to their decision to get married for Amazon’s reboot of the Mr. & Mrs. Smith franchise.
Announced in suitably hilarious fashion via their Instagram Stories, which was captured and shared by the head of Amazon Studios, Jennifer Salke, the duo are set to star in a reworking of the 2005 Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie blockbuster.

Glover and Waller-Bride will also executive produce the series alongside Francesca Sloane as co-creator and showrunner. Salke added in a statement (via Variety) “Talk about the dream team! Donald and Phoebe are two of the most talented creators and performers in the world. It’s truly a dream for us, as it will be for our global audience, to have these two forces of nature collaborating as a powerhouse creative team. Mr. and Mrs. Smith is an iconic property, and we can’t wait to see how Donald, Phoebe and Francesca make it their own. We’re thrilled to be working with them, and with such great partners at New Regency.”
Mr. & Mrs. Smith was directed by Doug Liman and went on to gross somewhere in the region of $500 million worldwide, and having the creators of Atlanta and Fleabag combine on a new incarnation of the married spy format is undeniably exciting news.
