Back in August it was reported that Donald Glover was the front-runner to follow in the footsteps of Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian in Disney and Lucasfilm’s young Han Solo movie, and now THR is reporting that the Atlanta star has officially signed on to the Star Wars spinoff.
“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us,” said directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. “These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”
Glover – who is set to appear in next year’s- joins Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo in the film, which will reportedly show how Lando lost the Millennium Falcon to Han Solo, as well as exploring “his formative years as a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxy’s underworld.”
