Donald Glover has expressed an interest in a Lando anthology movie after Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Solo is now only days away, with fans soon able to see the much speculated about film and Glover’s performance as a young Lando Calrissian. Regarding what comes after Solo, there have also been rumours lately that Lucasfilm is planning a solo Lando film – the studio, however, has since thrown water on this.
But what does Glover think of the idea? Would he be interested in starring in his own movie about the adventures of Lando? He was asked about the possibility when sitting down with EW:
“It would always be fun to be Lando again. I would love to do it again. It’s really fun. The movie, I feel like, is wide open. This part of the universe without the… I feel like with the Skywalkers, it’s hard, because it’s almost like the Bible. There’s a story that you have to tell, and the lineage of that family. I feel like out here its like, yeah, we’re just like hustlers and gamblers and space pirates, essentially, so you can do a lot more and have a lot more fun. And I like those movies a lot. I like the comedy of them, the silliness and also the adventure. I think it would just be fun to do.”
Glover is certainly right that without the Skywalkers there exists a sense of freedom and this will surely allow Lucasfilm to branch off and pursue some very different Star Wars stories. Who knows, if Solo performs well, perhaps a Lando movie will be one of them.
