Winning the coveted role of Lando Calrissian for the Han Solo spin-off Star Wars film is something Donald Glover clearly treasures, as evident from his recent string of humble interviews.
Here he is again speaking to Deadline, commenting that: “Lando’s a big deal. He’s the first toy I ever got… It’s interesting, when you have something iconic in a range when people pay attention to it, it’s hard. You want to live up to the expectation, but you can only live up to your own.”
The second Star Wars Story is currently prepping for a February start date with locations in the Canary Islands and Italy reportedly being scouted.
The untitled Han Solo film sees Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie) directing a cast that includes Alden Ehrenreich as the titular smuggler, Donald Glover (Spider-Man: Homecoming) as Lando Calrissian, Woody Harrelson (True Detective) as Han’s mentor and Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) in as-yet-unrevealed role. It is slated to arrive in cinemas in 2018.
