It seems like pandemic-inspired films will be all the rage in Hollywood, and long-time action director Doug Liman is trying it out. His upcoming pandemic heist film, Lockdown, has found a new home at HBO Max, reportedly on its way for a 2021 release.
The film will star Anne Hathaway and Chiwetel Ejiofor as a couple attempting to pull off a heist. It’s described as a “thriller romantic comedy” and also stars Ben Stiller, Stephen Merchant, Lucy Boynton, Ben Kingsley, Mindy Kaling, and Dule Hill.
Set against the backdrop of the Covid-19 lockdown, Lockdown tells the story of how sparring couple Linda (Anne Hathaway) and Paxton (Chiwetel Ejiofor) call a truce to attempt a high-risk, high-stakes jewelry heist at the world’s most exclusive department store, Harrods.
Doug Liman will helm the script, penned by Steven Knight. It was filmed in London during the COVID-19 pandemic. P.J. van Sandwijk and Alison Winter produced for Storyteller Productions, along with Michael Lesslie. AGC’s Ford and Miguel Palos will also serve as executive producers.
