Drew Goddard to adapt acclaimed graphic novel Sabrina

April 14, 2019 by Gary Collinson

The Cabin in the Woods and Bad Times at the El Royale helmer Drew Goddard has signed on to write and produce an adaptation of Nick Drnaso’s graphic novel Sabrina, Collider has revealed.

Published by Drawn & Quarterly last year, Sabrina became the first graphic novel to be longlisted for the Man Booker Prize and “follows a man whose girlfriend, Sabrina, goes missing, prompting him to live with his old friend — an Air Force surveillance expert who is dealing with his own failed marriage. After a grisly videotape is anonymously sent to news outlets, Sabrina’s disappearance goes viral. As the 24-hour news cycle and social media take hold of the story, the two men are targeted by vitriolic conspiracy theorists who threaten their sense of the truth and their faith in each other.”

Sabrina is being produced by New Regency and RT Features, and Goddard – who received an Oscar nomination for his script for The Martian – has boarded the project with an eye to directing.
