Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) has signed on to direct an action-packed film about the best-selling author and James Bond creator Ian Fleming. Fleming travelled the world and masterminded real-life top-secret operations, which gave him the inspiration to write the James Bond book series. This movie, with the working title Fleming, will explore the events in the author’s life that led to him creating the famous British superspy.
Jones had this to say about the film: “Fleming lived through one of the most perilous periods in world history, in a position that allowed him a unique vantage point of all the players, all the stakes. He witnesses true heroism first-hand. And he saw the evil men could do. Then, when the war ended, he went off to write fiction. The essential question for me is; where did Ian Fleming end and Bond begin?”
Jones is currently casting the film, which is based on Andrew Lycett’s biography Ian Fleming, The Man Behind James Bond, with a script written by Matt Brown. It is expected to go into production later this year and is the only film to be given the full support of The Ian Fleming Estate.
