As Dune: Part Two is getting ready to begin production, Deadline reports that the sequel has made another addition to its cast as Swiss actress Souheila Yacoub (A Brighter Tomorrow) has joined the film in the role of the Fremen leader Shishakli.
Shishakli is a squad leader of the Fremen’s warriors known as the Fedaykin squad leader from Sietch Tabr, one of the Fremen’s hidden underground cities in Arrakis which Paul Atreides, his mother Jessica and a group of Fremen were journeying to at the conclusion of the first film. In Frank Herbert’s novel, Shishakli is among the Fremens who oversee Paul’s training to learn their culture.
Dune: Part Two will begin filming next week in Budapest, with Denis Villeneuve returning to direct from a script he wrote alongside Jon Spaihts. The first part grossed an impressive pandemic effected $400M at the worldwide box-office for Warner Bros. and Legendary.
Dune: Part Two will see Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin reprising their roles from the first film. Newcomers for the sequel are Christopher Walken as Emperor Shaddam IV, Florence Pugh (Black Widow) as Princess Irulan, Austin Butler (Elvis) as Feyd-Rautha and Léa Seydoux (Crimes of the Future) as Lady Margot.
