Christopher Nolan’s World War II epic Dunkirk has become the acclaimed filmmaker’s most successful release of all-time at the UK box office, where it has grossed £56.4 million and counting.
Dunkirk shot to the top of the box office in July, with the U.K. scoring the biggest Warner Bros. opening of 2017. It went on to become one of the biggest hits of the summer, and has recently topped $500 million at the worldwide box office. It is also one of the year’s most critically acclaimed films, earning rapturous praise from critics around the globe, as well as the highest-grossing World War II film of all time.

Dunkirk sees Christopher Nolan directing a cast that includes Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, Harry Styles, Aneurin Barnard, Jack Lowden, James D’Arcy, Barry Keoghan, Tom Glynn-Carney and newcomer Fionn Whitehead.
