As Johnson notes, the film is being directed by The Shallows helmer Jaume Collet-Serra, who recently worked with the star on Disney’s Jungle Cruise, and sees Johnson taking on the role of Teth-Adam, a.k.a. Black Adam – an antihero who possesses the same powers as his future arch-enemy Shazam (Zachary Levi).
Joining Johnson in the cast of Black Adam are Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz and Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, and Bodhi Sabongui in as-yet-unrevealed roles.
Black Adam is set for release on July 29th 2022.
