Dwayne Johnson is head back to the small screen, with NBC announcing that it has given an 11-episode series order to Young Rock, a new single camera comedy exploring the early years of the future WWE Superstar and Hollywood star.
Nahnatchka Khan (Fresh Off the Boat) will serve as showrunner on Young Rock, and according to the press release, “Johnson will appear in each episode as the focus and inspiration of the series will be about his formative years.”
Young Rock will be produced by Johnson and Dany Garcia’s Seven Bucks Productions, which is coming off the hit features Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. Next up for The Rock and Seven Bucks is Disney’s Jungle Cruise, which opens in July.
