Dwayne Johnson has revealed what Keanu Reeves’ role would have been in Hobbs & Shaw

August 6, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has revealed who Keanu Reeves would have played in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.

The Fast and Furious franchise is one of the biggest in the world and it’s latest, Hobbs & Shaw, includes two of the biggest stars around in Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham. But did you know that Keanu Reeves was nearly in on the action too?

Dwayne Johnson has revealed to Screen Rant that Reeves would have played the director of terrorist organization Eteon if things had worked out: “And then what we also did at the end was we left the ominous voice faceless. So, for some time, I think you guys have heard the rumor that it was going to be a bit of a John Wick, all disguised. But then we left it there [with] a few people in mind. Originally, Keanu was the goal. We were talking, and it just didn’t feel right creatively. …He and I talked, and I totally got it. And it wound up being the best thing, so now we leave that open for the future.”

Well, as Johnson says, at least it leaves the door open for a future collaboration! Would you like to see Reeves in a Fast and Furious movie? Let us know in the comments below and on Twitter @flickeringmyth…

Ever since hulking lawman Hobbs (Johnson), a loyal agent of America’s Diplomatic Security Service, and lawless outcast Shaw (Statham), a former British military elite operative, first faced off in 2015’s Furious 7, the duo have swapped smack talk and body blows as they’ve tried to take each other down.

But when cyber-genetically enhanced anarchist Brixton (Idris Elba) gains control of an insidious bio-threat that could alter humanity forever — and bests a brilliant and fearless rogue MI6 agent (The Crown’s Vanessa Kirby), who just happens to be Shaw’s sister — these two sworn enemies will have to partner up to bring down the only guy who might be badder than themselves.

Hobbs & Shaw blasts open a new door in the Fast universe as it hurtles action across the globe, from Los Angeles to London and from the toxic wasteland of Chernobyl to the lush beauty of Samoa.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is being directed by David Leitch (John Wick, Deadpool 2) and will see the return of Dwayne Johnson (Luke Hobbs), Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw) and Helen Mirren (Magdalene Shaw) alongside franchise newcomers Idris Elba (Luther), Vanessa Kirby (Mission: Impossible – Fallout), Eddie Marsan (Ray Donovan), and Eiza Gonzalez (Baby Driver).
