In June, Warner Bros. will release Wonder Woman from director Patty Jenkins (Monster), who with her second feature film, as made history as the first female filmmaker to have helmed a $100 million budgeted live-action movie.
Jenkins has already been discussing the possibility of returning for a sequel, but it seems she may have another high profile gig on her upcoming slate, as the AP is reporting that Dwayne Johnson is looking to have her direct the upcoming Disney movie Jungle Cruise.
“Patty has that really cool edge,” said Johnson. “I felt like she could be a really cool choice for a movie like Jungle Cruise. Plus, you know what? I’m just a big fan.”
Jungle Cruise is based on the Disney theme park ride, and has a script from J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay (Star Trek Beyond). The plan is to start production in the spring of 2018. Wonder Woman meanwhile is released on June 2nd.
