Director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) has provided an update on the highly-anticipated sequel to Baby Driver after been silent about the project for two years by confirming that the script is officially complete.
“It’s written,” Wright shared of the Baby Driver sequel in an interview with Variety. “I’ve actually written three drafts of it.. It’s funny, you get fans on social media saying, ‘What’s happening to blah blah,’ and you know there’s a global pandemic, right?,” Wright added with a laugh. “Some things are beyond even me.”
While we don’t know any plot or casting details right now, Wright has previously stated that the sequel will “take the story further” and will introduce new characters as well as a body count as high as the original film. There is no confirmation when the film will enter production as the filmmaker is also currently working on two other projects including directing the kidnapping thriller The Chain for Universal Pictures as well as writing, producing and directing a ghost story titled Stage 13.
Edgar Wright’s latest film, Last Night in Soho, has once again been delayed to October 22nd, 2021 as a result of the ongoing global health crisis and its impact on movie theatres across the world.
