Elizabeth Olsen says Wanda and Vision’s story is one of love, innocence, and tragedy

January 27, 2021 by Samuel Brace

Elizabeth Olsen, the star of WandaVision, has described the relationship Wanda shares with Vision as “innocent love” but that tragedy is also a part of their story.

The first three episodes of WandaVision are now with us on Diseny+, presenting a charming and equally sinister series of events focused on Scarlet Witch and Vision.

The relationship between the two is at the forefront of the series, showcasing their love for each other as they live a happy married life together and seemingly start a family. But actress Elizabeth Olsen points out to Elle that tragedy is also a part of their story:

“Wanda and Vision’s journey to this point is a story of pure, innocent love and deep connection with another person. It was also very traumatizing. Tragedy has always been their story. In our show, we kind of wipe that clean and start fresh.”

The tragedy likely points to Vision’s death in Avengers: Infinity War but with the character now somehow back and alive in WandaVision, perhaps this tragic love story will take on a whole new dimension. Something very eerie is going on in the show and it should be intriguing to see how things pan out over the rest of the season.

Marvel Studios’ captivating new series WandaVision stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany and marks the first series from Marvel Studios streaming exclusively on Disney+. The series is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living idealized suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

WandaVision features a cast that includes Elizabeth Olsen (Scarlet Witch), Paul Bettany (Vision), Kat Dennings (Darcy Lewis), Randall Park (Agent Jimmy Woo), Teyonah Parris (Empire) as Monica Rambeau, and Kathryn Hahn (Bad Moms) as Agnes.
