The Cured, a zombie movie that stars Ellen Page has been picked up for distribution.
Debuting at the Toronto Film Festival to some strong reviews, IFC Films have scooped up the distribution rights in North America according to Variety.
The movie is set to receive what is described as a “robust” theatrical release in spring of 2018, thanks to a deal that was somewhere in the seven figure vicinity.
Directed by first-timer David Freyne, The Cured tells the story of zombies who try and assimilate with society after a plague infects mankind.
Page is producing the project alongside Rachael O’Kane and Rory Dungan. The Cured also stars Sam Keeley.
The Toronto Film Festival is always a big event on the calendar, signifying the awards season kick off. Many films with hopes of distribution in time for the Oscars look to debut here, such as Christian Bale’s and Scoot Cooper’s latest effort Hostiles.
