Entertainment Weekly is reporting that up-and-coming filmmaker Emily Carmichael has signed on to direct 20th Century Fox’s adaptation of the Boom! Studios comic book series Lumberjanes.
Created by Noelle Stevenson, Shannon Walters and Grace Ellis, Lumberjanes follows a group of teenage girls who spend their summer at scout camp, where they encounter strange creatures and supernatural phenomena.
Carmichael’s stock is certainly rising off the back of her award-winning short film work; she is set to write and direct Powerhouse, which is being produced by Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow and Simon Kinberg, and is also co-writing 2018’s Pacific Rim: Maelstrom.
