Get ready for another Liam Neeson revenge-laden action movie. Deadline is reporting that Shameless star Emmy Rossum has joined Neeson in the cast of the revenge thriller Hard Powder.
The movie is a remake of the Norwegian feature film In Order of Disappearance, directed by Hans Petter Moland. Moland will also direct the English-language remake with Frank Baldwin penning the script and Michael Shamberg producing.
Hard Powder sees Neeson as Nels, a snowplow driver who lives a fairly ordinary life in a ski-town until his son is murdered by a local drug lord. This event spurs in Nels a desire to seek vengeance and destroy the cartel. His mission quickly starts a turf war between the local gang and a Native American mafia boss as he searches for vengeance.
There’s no word on who Rossum is playing, but it may be too early to rule out a kidnapped daughter role. There is also no word on when Hard Powder will go into production or when it will be released, although it was reported this week that the film had been denied a permit to shoot in Canada’s Banff National Park due to the portrayal of an indigenous character, played by Tom Jackson, as the mafia boss.
