Deadline has revealed that Ethan Hawke and Noomi Rapace have joined the cast of Stockholm, a new thriller which will reunite Hawke with his Born to Be Blue writer-director Robert Budreau.
The film will tell the true story of the 1973 Stockholm bank heist and hostage crisis, which gave rise to the psychological phenomenon Stockholm syndrome, as the hostages bonded with their captors and turned against the authorities. The situation was documented in 1974 in the New Yorker article ‘The Bank Drama’ by Daniel Lang.
Ethan Hawke was last seen in The Magnificent Seven, and will next appear in Luc Besson’s hotly-anticipated sci-fi Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, while Rapace is set to reprise her Prometheus role of Elizabeth Shaw for a cameo in Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant, and is currently shooting the David Ayer-directed sci-fi fantasy Bright alongside Will Smith and Joel Edgerton.
