With filming now officially underway in New Zealand on Evil Dead Rise, the latest feature film in the long-running Evil Dead franchise, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that New Line has added young actors Morgan Davies, Nell Fisher, and Gabrielle Echols to the upcoming instalment. The outlet is reporting that the trio will be playing siblings in the film.
Echols is making her feature acting debut in Reminiscence, Warner Bros.’s sci-fi movie from Westworld creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan and starring Hugh Jackman and Rebecca Ferguson. Davies had a breakout role playing a trans boy in the Australian TV series The End and Fisher made her acting debut in the short film Splendid Isolation with her feature bow set to be post-apocalyptic action feature Northspur.
Evil Dead Rise, which is being directed by Lee Cronin (The Hole in the Ground), is set to follow two estranged sisters, portrayed by Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons, thrusting them into a primal battle for survival as they face the most nightmarish version of family imaginable. The film has been confirmed to build off the original trilogy, rather than the 2013 reboot, as well as moving out of the woods and into a modern-day urban setting.
Unfortunately, it remains unlikely that Ashley “Ash” J. Williams actor Bruce Campbell will be making an appearance as he has already publicly revealed that he has retired from the role following the cancellation of Ash vs. Evil Dead in favour of becoming a producer on the Evil Dead series. Evil Dead Rise is set to be produced by Campbell and franchise creator Sam Raimi.
