Ewan McGregor has spent a few arduous months travelling through South-America for Apple TV+’s Long Way Up series, so it was no surprise that he was asked to speak to another celebrity endurance adventurer in Eddie Izzard, who was running 31 virtual marathons over 31 days, and it was here that the two spoke about the status of the long-gestating Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series.
Izzard must have performed a Jedi mind trick on McGregor, because they got the actor to give up the filming location and start date for the eagerly anticipated Deborah Chow directed Disney+ series. McGregor said “We start making it in the late spring, and I think we’re going to be shooting it here in L.A. It’s so funny – every week there’s a new report…there’s another tabloid expose that we’re shooting it in some bizarre town somewhere. Then we’re meant to be making it in Boston, then, ‘No, it wasn’t Boston, it was Boston, England.’ But we’re not. We’re shooting it in L.A.”

In the clip, which you can watch above, McGregor also spoke about how excited he was to be pulling on the Jedi robes again, adding “The idea of doing it now is even more exciting than it was then, I think. I’m thrilled to get a chance to play him again. I’ve always felt that there was a story about him between [the prequels] and Alec Guinness’s [movie], and yeah, that’s what we’re going to do.”
