The following is an excerpt from Rafael Motamayor’s interview with Ana Lily Amirpour, director of The Bad Batch at the Sitges Film Festival…
Ana Lily Amirpour is one of the most fascinating new directors working today. Her feature film debut A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night was tagged as “The first Iranian vampire Western” and received universal acclaim in 2014. Just two years later she followed that up with The Bad Batch, a cannibal Western featuring Keanu Reeves, Jim Carrey and Jason Momoa. She recently finished shooting an upcoming episode of Legion.
Flickering Myth spoke to Amirpour at the Sitges Film Festival and asked her what it was like working on Legion and if she would do another TV show, to which she replied, “I am directing an episode of Castle Rock, and that’s because I’m a huge Stephen King fan and J.J. Abrams is producing it, and André Holland is the lead and it’s an awesome group of people, so I’m opened to do things like that.”
Amirpour was tight-lipped about giving details of the show. The full interview will be up shortly, but in the meantime, check out the NYCC trailer for the 2018 show right here.
Castle Rock is set in King’s fictional town, and is described as a psychological horror series which ““combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland.” It is slated to premiere in 2018.
