One of the first movies to shift its release date when the global health pandemic broke, Fast & Furious 9 is moving again. Though, this time it’s only by a month rather than an entire year.
The Universal film will now open over Memorial Day weekend, May 28th, 2021. It moves from its second release date of April 2nd, 2021. The reason for the move looks to be No Time To Die’s latest delay, which came only hours before this story broke. MGM and Universal announced earlier that the final film with Daniel Craig as the role of James Bond will be moving from November of this year to the April 2nd date.
Justin Lin, a veteran director of the Fast franchise, will return to direct the ninth mainline installment. Vin Diesel returns as Dom Toretto, as does Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz. Joining them are series regulars that include Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, and Helen Mirren. Newcomers to the Fast and Furious universe for this entry include Michael Rooker, John Cena, Cardi B, and Finn Cole, as they will join the cast of the franchise in this installment.
This film also marks the highly anticipated return of Han, played by Sung Kang.
Fast & Furious 9 sees Justin Lin directing series veterans Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, Charlize Theron and Helen Mirren, along with franchise newcomers John Cena (Bumblebee), Finn Cole (Peaky Blinders), Anna Sawai (Ninja Assassin), Vinnie Bennett (Ghost in the Shell), Michael Rooker (Guardians of the Galaxy), Cardi B (Hustlers), MMA fighter Francis Ngannou, and singer Ozuna.
