Having postponed Fast & Furious 9 in favour of the Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham-headlined Hobbs & Shaw, Universal Pictures has now announced an updated title for the first spinoff movie in the blockbuster action franchise.
As reported by Collider, the film – directed by David Leitch of John Wick and Deadpool 2 fame – is now going by the official title Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw.
Given how lucrative the brand has become, with over $5.1 billion in box office receipts to date, it’s certainly no surprise that Universal wants to get Fast & Furious in the title. And with just two movies left in the main series (apparently), it also wouldn’t be a shock if the studio looks to further expand the series with more spinoffs under the ‘Fast & Furious Presents‘ banner.
