Fede Alvarez celebrates seventh anniversary of Evil Dead remake with behind-the-scenes images

April 7, 2020 by Liam Waddington

The Evil Dead franchise launched in 1981 and after nearly 40 years, the series has become one of the most beloved properties in the world of horror due to the creator Sam Raimi and star Bruce Campbell in the original film trilogy and later in the Ash vs Evil Dead television show.

However, back in 2013, filmmaker Fede Alvarez took on the task of reviving the film franchise with Evil Dead for both a new generation of horror fans and devoted audiences of the originals. Now, to celebrate the seventh anniversary of the release of Evil Dead 2013, Alvarez has released a selection of behind-the-scenes photographs from the production set of the sequel/remake. You can check them out here…

Evil Dead (2013) follows a similar premise to the original 1981 Evil Dead and Evil Dead II which involves a group of teenagers arriving at a cabin in the woods where they eventually find the Necronomicon (or the Book of the Dead) and release the evil presence hidden within in the woods. The film stars Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, and Elizabeth Blackmore.

While it’s unknown whether we’ll ever get to see the long-rumoured sequel to Alvarez’s Evil Dead, franchise creator Sam Raimi has confirmed that development is underway on a new movie in the horror series, and that both his and Bruce Campbell’s involvement with the film will be limited to a producing capacity.
