A new era in the world of Game of Thrones has officially begun as HBO has confirmed that the upcoming GOT prequel series House of the Dragon has started its production.
House of the Dragon will follow the story of the Targaryen family in Westeros, set 300 years before the events in the Game of Thrones series. Check out the announcement tweet here, which also reveals a 2022 premiere date on HBO Max.

House of the Dragon will star Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, and Fabien Frankel. Rhys Ifans, Steve Toussaint, Eve Best, and Sonoya Mizuno will also appear in the series.
Considine will star as King Viserys Targaryen, D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, and Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen. The other players in this new game include Cooke as Alicent Hightower and Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon.
At the helm of House of the Dragon are co-showrunners Ryan Condal and Miguel Sapochnik, while author and creator George R.R. Martin will serve as executive producer.
