First image and plot details for The Forever Purge, the final instalment in the Purge franchise

January 7, 2021 by EJ Moreno

Though the image from the latest Purge film is meant to promote the upcoming action-horror sequel, it’s hard to deny its impact after the recent events in the United States. Still, Total Film has offered fans the first look at The Forever Purge, which is said to be the final instalment in the film franchise.

According to Total Film, “the movie will take place after the events of Election Year and will center on Adela (Ana de la Reguera) and Juan (Tenoch Huerta), who finds solace at a Texan ranch, having fled a drug cartel in Mexico. Things go awry when a group of outsiders decides to keep purging beyond the allotted time when people can break any and all laws.”

Early last year, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the film would take “the Purge out of its usual metropolitan setting while still dealing with class and race issues in the way the previous films have,” and it looks to be just that. Moving away from the more cityscapes of entries past, the film will look at what happens when the Purge comes to more rural areas.

Leven Rambin will star alongside Will Patton, Cassidy Freeman, Ana de la Reguera, and Tenoch Huerta. Franchise creator James DeMonaco wrote the new movie.

The Forever Purge will debut in cinemas on July 9th, 2021.
