Having launched its ‘Universe of Marvel Characters’ back in 2018 with Venom, Sony Pictures is expanding the Spider-Man spinoff franchise this year with a live-action adaptation of Morbius, the Living Vampire, and it seems we’ll soon get our first look at the film.
As reported by Comic Book, Alberta Film Ratings has granted a PG certificate to the first trailer for Morbius, which will run for 2 minutes and 31 seconds. There’s no word yet on when we might expect to see it, but Sony does have Bad Boys For Life incoming on January 17th, so it would seem a good bet that the trailer could be attached to the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence buddy cop sequel.
Morbius will see Jared Leto (Suicide Squad) taking on the role of Michael Morbius, a doctor who becomes infected with a form of vampirism after attempting to cure himself of a rare blood design. Much like Venom, Morbius has been depicted in the comics as both an enemy of Spider-Man and an antihero.

Morbius is set for release on July 31st 2020 and sees Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) directing a cast that includes Jared Leto (Suicide Squad) as Dr. Michael Morbius, Adria Arjona (Pacific Rim Uprising) as Martine Bancroft, Matt Smith (Doctor Who) as Loxias Crown, Jared Harris (The Terror) as Morbius’ mentor, and Tyrese Gibson (Fast & Furious) as an FBI agent.
