A sequel always made sense, with Five Nights At Freddy’s moving beyond being a force in video games and becoming a horror film smash hit for Blumhouse and Universal.
The studio announced they’d be doing a follow-up soon after 2023’s Five Nights At Freddy’s dropped on Peacock and in cinemas, but now we’ve learned when we can expect the second installment.
Universal President of Domestic Theatrical Distribution Jim Orr announced at this year’s CinemaCon that Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 is being developed for release in fall 2025.
Against its modest budget of $20 million, it grossed over $291 million worldwide and was also the most-watched title ever in a weekend on Peacock. Those types of numbers are almost unheard of for a film released day-and-date on a streaming service, proving the success of the Five Nights At Freddy’s brand.
