Forest Whitaker boards Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One

June 15, 2015 by James Garcia

Add another point of diversity to the Star Wars universe, because Forest Whitaker has just booked a trip to that infamously whitewashed galaxy far, far away. According to Variety, the Academy Award winner has boarded Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One.

Unfortunately, there are no details on Whitaker’s role, so it’s impossible to tell at this stage if he’ll be playing one of the Death Star plan-stealing Rebels, an alien of some kind, or an Imperial.

Whitaker joins an already-impressive cast that includes Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline), and Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler) and Diego Luna (Elysium), who play Alliance fighters.

Directed by Gareth Edwards, Star Wars Anthology: Rogue One will blast into a galaxy near you on December 16, 2016.
