Following on from the first batch of images from HBO’s Westworld remake, news has been announced about new cast members who are joining the Jonathan Nolan-produced show.
Mirando Otto (The Lord of the Rings) has recently departed the show after filming the pilot and is to be replaced by The Duke of Burgundy star Sidse Babbett Knudsen, with the role changed for the series. Also joining the cast are Clifton Collins, Jr. (Pacific Rim), Eion Bailey (Fight Club) and Jimmi Simpson (House of Cards).
Here are the official new character descriptions, via EW:
Eion Bailey as Logan, a “louche bachelor and veteran Westworld guest. His hedonistic romp through Westworld is equally motivated by self-indulgence and a desire to help his friend, William.”
Jimmi Simpson as William, a “reluctant first time visitor to Westworld, joining his friend, Logan. Initially dismissive of the park’s more lascivious attractions, he slowly uncovers a deeper meaning to the park’s narrative.”
Clifton Collins, Jr. as Lawrence, a “charming but lethal outlaw, with a knack for maneuvering and negotiating the various criminal elements of Westworld.”
Sidse Babbett Knudsen as Theresa Cullen, “Westworld’s terse operations leader, responsible for keeping the park from sliding into unscripted chaos.” This replaces the role that Otto originally played in the pilot.
Westworld, executive produced by Jonathan Nolan (The Dark Knight Trilogy), stars James Marsden (The Best of Me), Evan Rachel Wood (The Ides of March), Thandie Newton (Mission: Impossible 2), Ed Harris (Apollo 13), Jeffrey Wright (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) and Anthony Hopkins (Hitchcock). The show is set to debut in 2016.
