The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that 20th Century Fox has closed a deal to adapt Superior, the comic book series from writer Mark Millar and artist Leinil Francis Yu. The adaptation will be produced by Matthew Vaughn, director of Millar’s Kick-Ass and the upcoming The Secret Service.
Published by Icon (a creator-owned imprint of Marvel Comics), Superior tells the story Simon Pooni, a 12-year-old boy with multiple sclerosis who is granted a single magic wish by an alien monkey, choosing to become his favourite superhero, the titular Superior. However, it turns out that the alien is actually a demon incarnate and Simon is give 24 hours to decide whether to sell his soul to the devil in order to remain as the superhero.
Superior becomes the latest Millarworld title to get the big screen treatment, with several other projects in development including Nemesis, Starlight, Kindergarten Heroes and American Jesus.
