The Nine-Nine will be closing its doors, with Fox announcing that it has cancelled the cop comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine after five seasons, with the series finale set to air on May 20th.
The show premiered in 2013 and features a cast that includes Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Chelsea Peretti, Stephanie Beatiz and Joe Lo Truglio.
Despite critical praise, and Golden Globe and Emmy nominations, Brooklyn Nine-Nine has struggled to build a large audience, with the current fifth season averaging 2.7 million viewers and a 1.2 rating in the key 18-49 demo.
As EW notes, it’s possible that producers Universal Television could look to take the show to another network or streaming service.
In addition to Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Fox has also swung the axe on two other shows in The Last Man on Earth and The Mick.
