Since Thanos snapped his fingers last year, we’ve seen a number of Marvel Television projects turning to dust (see Netflix’s various Defenders shows), and now we can add the X-Men series The Gifted to the list of victims.
As reported over at Deadline, Fox has cancelled the mutant drama series, opting against a season three renewal for the show.
As the Fox network no longer has any ownership in the show (production company 20th Century Fox TV now being part of the Disney family), it was felt that the season two ratings average of 1.1 in the key 18-49 demo and an average of 3.3 million viewers, was too soft for a third season.
While the trade specifies that no serious discussions are yet to take place, there is apparently a slim chance that The Gifted could find a new home on the Disney-controlled Freeform or Hulu.
