Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Fox has given a pilot order for a TV adaptation of Justin Cronin’s post-apocalyptic vampire novel The Passage, which has Ridley Scott (Prometheus) and Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) executive producing and Elizabeth Heldens (Deception) penning the script.
The official logline reads: “The Passage begins as a character-driven government conspiracy thriller and morphs into a post-apocalyptic saga with vampires. The series spans over a century and focuses on a young girl named Amy who must save the human race.”
The Passage was published in 2010 and became a New York Times bestseller; the first instalment of a trilogy, it was followed by The Twelve in 2012 and The City of Mirrors in 2016. The rights to the tale were first picked up by Fox and Scott prior to publication in 2007, with John Logan (Gladiator) attached to write a feature film adaptation.
